A New Way On 04:54
Wecanallfindanewwayon x2 Is this the way we want to live? Shall we re-write the narrative? The story should be ours to take or leave. Tiredness closes down the joy, and sickness stalks my girl and boy, I try so hard to give them space to breathe. Wecanallfindanewwayon x2 Remembering from where we've come Seeing clear what can be done Travelling for year and years on end Open up to other ways Struggle on for all our days Limiting the damage left to mend Old words are shouting, ours to hear. Old storytellers bring them near. We cross the maps with them as our guide. “Out there” is just a part of all, inside is where we find the call to arms of words. We’re told so often how to act, and sold more lies as if they’re fact, comforted by knowing nothing more. But I cannot sit here, my friend, anaesthetised, and not defend the life I know is out there for us all. Old words are shouting, ours to hear. Old storytellers bring them near. We cross the maps with them as our guide. “Out there” is just a part of all, inside is where we find the call. Wecanallfindanewwayon x4 Is this the way we want to live? Shall we re-write the narrative?

Magnolia 04:36
Lashes part, darkness drains More darkness takes it’s place An eyeful, full of empty space It’s self assessment day Happy go lucky has been and gone, So many seasons past
Only now remembering
Where this all began So i stare magnolia, a backdrop to that day Settled with a story, then pack and walk, Pack and walk away Self aware, read myself Slideshows on high speed And i’m ready with apologies Though i cannot speak Happy go lucky has been and gone So many seasons past
Only now remembering
Where this all began Spiralling out of control Deeper and deeper I go

Empty out the bottles and throw them all away Rest the silent screaming only for today Sitting here and waiting is good for me it seems I have no need to strive or hope for realising dreams I am of these hills, same hills, different view I am of this sea, same sea, changed horizon I am of free thought, same mind, open to play But do I know my way? Dust off all the old books sat around unread Give them space and reason, too many words unsaid Soak up generations and feel them living here And join them in their failures for we've nothing left to fear I am of these hills, same hills, different view I am of this sea, same sea, changed horizon I am of free thought, same mind, open to play But do I know my way? Rushing 'round like madmen and missing out on much Pause to take the medicines, surely losing touch Repeat until it now means nothing, over and over and over and over Rest the bones on granite, write “the water mirrors sky” Oystercatcher asks me why I feel the need to try Churn the water, busy boats are taking us somewhere High quay is dry but down the beach my lover's waiting there I am of these hills, same hills, different view I am of this sea, same sea, changed horizon I am of free thought, same mind, open to play But do I know my way?

Keeper Jack 03:46
Driving up to Tinkerbrook in a beat up Escort Van Through the rough of Roundwood with a 410 in my hand Open green of parkland through a rusty five bar gate Bang, first shot the rabbit’s dead, an unforgettable fate, On the Glemham Hall Estate CHORUS Jack he was a Keeper He woke me up at five Walked the path through fields of grass With my Grandad by my side For forty years he toiled With honesty and grace A Cobbold man who worked the land On the Glemham Hall Estate Brushing Day we met at eight, in the tatty stable yard Down the drive to Big Wood in a tractor driven cart Beat those sticks across the Oak, In a line we drew the game Back to the cellar at lunchtime for a ploughmans on our plate On the Glemham Hall Estate Out of bed and down the stairs, brother Chris was still asleep Sat in the warm kitchen with a milky cup of tea Denny’s Grove to Bugs Barn, beside him singing songs Memories of my childhood like yesterday still strong

Then It Goes 03:17
Often surprising, the shapes life makes Sometimes cruising, but moments from the brakes Some of us are lucky to choose the road we take Catch me on the wrong moon, I'll take us off for days A simple life and remote ways I know little of that life but crave it all the same You can only ignore the tide for so long, creeping up around your toes You can only ignore the tide for so long, given choice, and then it goes Quiet to hear them, the voices speak Debate the cards laid in front of me Filibuster until there's no air left to breathe Shout down the questions and make a leap Surely makes more sense to keep Moving forward to taste what we can't yet see You can only ignore the tide for so long, creeping up around your toes You can only ignore the tide for so long, given choice, and then it goes Floating uncertain above unseen rocks Drifting alone with our ticking clocks Broken ways of glass and steel Until it all stops You can only ignore the tide for so long, creeping up around your toes You can only ignore the tide for so long, given choice, and then it Only ignore the tide for so long, creeping up around your toes You can only ignore the tide for so long, given choice, and then it goes and then it goes and then it goes

Solvitur albulando, but not walking away Not easy to admit I need people more each day Glorious isolation works well sometimes But not for lifetimes Be open of heart, with care we can start To live better, to live free Social animals we are, awkward as that may be With just half a lifetime spent here building a solo me Even in good company so often off adrift Not a plan for lifetimes Be open of heart, with care we can start To live better, to live free Glorious isolation works well sometimes But not for lifetimes Be open of heart, with care we can start To live better, to live free
